The phenomenon of illegal migration by boat has witnessed a noticeable escalation during the recent period, with more than 800 Algerians arriving on the Spanish coast within one week.

The number of these immigrants, who came on board 50 boats, reached 1,100 immigrants, 80% of whom were of Algerian nationality, while the rest were of Moroccan and other North African nationalities.

Francisco José Clémont Martín, an activist in illegal immigration issues and a member of the non-governmental organization “Oris Dal Mar,” pointed out that the immigrants were distributed in several Spanish regions, including Almeria, Mauricia, Alicante, and the Belaras Islands.

He confirmed that the Spanish authorities, including the police, civil protection, and coast guard, interrogated these migrants and saved at least four boats from sinking.

Many Algerian families posted appeals on social media, searching for their missing relatives, and among these poignant stories is the story of Nasiba B., whose younger brother left via boat from the shores of Oran.

Nusseibeh spoke about the state of anxiety and sleeplessness that the family has been experiencing since his disappearance, amid conflicting news about their fate, with some saying that they died by drowning, and others confirming that they are with the Spanish authorities.

Others published videos filmed on some boats that left the Algerian shores towards the European coasts, showing women and young children among their passengers, as it is known that the phenomenon of migration increases in the summer, when the sea is calm.
