The municipality of Kufra faces significant challenges due to the influx of displaced people from Sudan to the Libyan city, putting significant pressure on infrastructure and basic services such as health and security.
Worryingly, the actual number of displaced people may be much higher than official estimates, as exact numbers are difficult to determine due to their continued flow and exit from the city towards cities in northern Libya.
The municipality’s official spokesman, Abdullah Suleiman, pointed out that the entry of more than 15,000 displaced people was detected before Ramadan, while the Health Committee recorded nearly 30,000 displaced people.
The municipality relies on food and humanitarian aid to meet the needs of the displaced, and a new shipment of aid was distributed at the beginning of Ramadan. However, these efforts require ongoing cooperation and additional support to effectively address the needs of IDPs, especially as they continue to flow.
