The UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batele, said he met in Benghazi with members of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission.

Batelli added that the meeting discussed developments in the security and political scene in the country, assessing current challenges, and reviewing proposed solutions.

The UN envoy said he urged members of the military committee to intensify their efforts for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

The envoy also stressed the need for all Libyan leaders to support the equal participation of all regions in political, economic and security processes related to the future of the country.

In recent days, the UN envoy has met with a number of political and military leaders in the eastern and western regions, the latest of which was his meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, as well as a number of leaders of armed groups in the western region.
