A senior intelligence delegation is visiting Libya these days, in complete secrecy, in an operation that includes expanding cyber intelligence and communications surveillance in areas controlled by the “Government of National Unity” in western Libya.
According to information from sources in Tripoli, a large group of Turkish army and intelligence officials, including 5 generals, accompanied a shipment of electronic equipment, arrived at the Turkish presence areas in Misrata and Al-Watiya air base (known as Uqba bin Nafi base).
According to the information, this Turkish intelligence activity is related to the expansion of the operation of electronic intelligence, communications, cryptography, and computer security systems.
According to preliminary information, the shipment includes state-of-the-art information interception and decryption systems, allowing data to be monitored and breached over “closed” lines of communication.
According to experts, the main objective of Turkish intelligence activity appears to be to monitor the actions of Ankara’s allies in Libya, who operate under the umbrella of the GNU.
It is noteworthy that the last time a Turkish security delegation of this size arrived was during the escort of shipments of ILTER drone detection and interception systems, developed by the Turkish company Boğaziçi Defense Technologies, and sent to Libya.
