Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has filed a lawsuit against American billionaire Elon Musk and British novelist JK Rowling, over their public protest against her participation in the Paris Olympics.
Khelif’s lawyer, Nabil Boudi, explained that the lawsuit was filed against the backdrop of inflammatory and hateful comments on social media platforms, including Musk’s “X” network.
Variety magazine reported that the lawsuit included the names of several prominent figures, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, who participated in spreading “hate messages” against Khelif.
Rowling had accused Khelif of being a man competing in women’s sports, while Musk retweeted a tweet questioning the affiliation of men in women’s sports.
Despite the controversy over her sexual identity, the International Olympic Committee indicated that Khelif’s eligibility to participate in women’s competitions was not in doubt.
