The Houthis announced the targeting of the British ship (RUBYMAR) in the Gulf of Aden with a number of missiles, “which led to the serious injury of the ship and its complete stop.”

Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement on Monday: “The naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces, with the help of God Almighty, carried out a qualitative military operation, targeting a British ship in the Gulf of Aden (RUBYMAR) with a number of appropriate naval missiles.”

Saree added: “One of the results of the operation was the following: the ship was seriously injured, which led to its complete stop, and as a result of the great damage suffered by the ship, it is now at risk of sinking in the Gulf of Aden, and we were keen during the operation to get the ship’s crew out safely.”

“In Hodeidah, Yemeni air defenses were able, with the help of God Almighty, to shoot down a US MQ9 aircraft with an appropriate missile while it was carrying out hostile missions against our country for the benefit of the Zionist entity,” Saree said.

Saree stressed that: “The Yemeni armed forces will not hesitate to take more military measures and carry out more qualitative operations against all hostile targets in defense of dear Yemen and to emphasize the position in support of the Palestinian people, and that the operations of the Yemeni armed forces in the Red and Arab Sea will not stop until the aggression stops and the siege on the Gaza Strip is lifted.”

British maritime security firm Ambry said a Belize-flagged cargo ship registered in the United Kingdom and operated by Lebanon reported an attack in the Bab al-Mandab Strait off Yemen, and that the ship was heading north on a voyage from Khorfakkan in the UAE to Varna, Bulgaria, when the attack occurred.

In turn, the British agency “UKMOTO”, which is run by the Royal Naval Forces, reported that a ship reported an explosion at a close distance, which led to damage “35 nautical miles towards the south of Mokha in Yemen,” and later added that military authorities were informed that the crew had left the ship, and that the ship was anchored, and the crew was safe, without giving further details of their whereabouts.
