The commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo “Hemedti”, arrived in Libya on an official visit, coinciding with the arrival of the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, to Egypt on an official visit as well.

The Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, received the commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hemedti), on Thursday afternoon at the Victory Forest Halls Complex in the capital, Tripoli.

During the meeting, Dabaiba stressed the depth of the historical relations between Libya and Sudan, which necessitates Libya to provide support in the current circumstances, stressing the need to end the war and conflict and reach peace and stability in the region.

At Cairo airport, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received his guest, the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and their talks dealt with ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and discuss issues of common interest.

Burhan’s visit to Egypt comes two days after his visit to Tripoli, where he met with the Libyan leadership to discuss developments in Sudan.

Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been witnessing an armed conflict between the Sudanese army led by Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Hemedti that has left more than 13,000 dead and about 8 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations.
