Egypt drew 2-2 with Cape Verde in Group B of the Africa Cup of Nations, narrowly qualifying for the final eighth, to finish second in the group, taking advantage of a precious gift from Mozambique, who drew with Ghana by the same score.

Egypt raised its score to 3 points in second place from 3 draws, behind Cape Verde, which previously secured qualification as group leader with 7 points.

Ghana is third with two points, on goal difference from Mozambique.

Cape Verde scored the breakthrough goal in the first minute of stoppage time, from the first chance they had through Gelson Tavares with a powerful shot from inside the box.

Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet) equalized for Egypt in the 47th minute. Mustafa Mohamed added the second goal in the third minute of stoppage time with a ball sent over the Cape Verdean goalkeeper ahead of his goal.

Bryan Techiera scored the equalizer for Cape Verde in the ninth minute of stoppage time, after dribbling goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy to shoot from close range into the net.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian team played the fateful match of the Pharaohs without its injured captain Mohamed Salah.
