Belqasim Khalifa Haftar, director of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, announced his country’s readiness to receive Russian and foreign companies to contribute to major construction and development.
In response to a journalist’s question about cooperation between Libya and Russia, Haftar said: “We welcome all Russian and foreign companies and all brotherly and friendly countries, to contribute to the reconstruction of Libya, to contribute their expertise and capabilities.”
“We look forward to the participation of all Russian and foreign companies specialized in all sectors, especially in the fields of infrastructure, roads and bridges, as well as the construction of hospitals, electrical plants and long-dilapidated desalination plants, which need urgent proof,” Haftar said.
Haftar stressed that the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund owns many important and strategic projects, most notably the maintenance of the University of Benghazi and the sports city “Benghazi International Stadium”, and the maintenance of electricity and sewage networks, and infrastructure in Benghazi, Derna, Al-Bayda, Tobruk, Shahat, Al-Marj, Ajdabiya and many Libyan cities.
It is noteworthy that the Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed with the Chief of Staff of the Security Units of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Major General Khaled Haftar, who is visiting Moscow, issues of unifying Libyan political forces and resolving the military and political crisis in the country, according to a statement by the Russian Embassy in Libya.
