The Commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, met with the sheikhs of the Darsa tribe and leaders of the security services to find out the latest developments in the kidnapping of Member of Parliament Ibrahim Al-Darsi and review the details of the ongoing investigations, according to the General Command Information Office.

The meeting, which was held in Field Marshal Haftar’s office at the General Command headquarters in the Rajma region, was attended by the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Abdul Razzaq Al Natouri, the Head of the Internal Security Service, Lieutenant General Osama Al Darsi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior in the government appointed by the House of Representatives, Faraj Qaim, and the Head of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Major General Salah Huwaidi.

In turn, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, issued a directive to intensify the investigation and search for the missing MP, Ibrahim Abu Bakr Al-Darsi, to the Defense and National Security and Interior Affairs Committees of the House, as well as the Minister of Interior and the Head of the Internal Security Service, who are affiliated with the government appointed by the House.

Representative Ibrahim Al-Darsi disappeared earlier this month after attending the celebration in the city of Benghazi to commemorate “Operation Dignity” on May 16, according to MP Abdel Moneim Al-Arfi.

The incident received international calls for investigation, as the United Nations Support Mission in Libya called on the competent authorities to locate MP Ibrahim Al-Darsi and secure his immediate release, demanding that a comprehensive investigation be conducted into the circumstances of his disappearance, and that those responsible be held accountable according to the law.
