The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, stressed the principle of distancing the army from interfering in the internal affairs of other countries.

Field Marshal Haftar explained during a meeting that included the Chief of the General Staff and senior Libyan military commanders that the Libyan Armed Forces are keen to strengthen friendly relations with neighboring countries in accordance with the principles of mutual respect. He cited as an example Libya’s reception of hundreds of thousands of Sudanese refugees and providing them with support and shelter.

Haftar also called on the Libyan tribes and communities to work together for unity and settlement of differences, stressing the reliance on Libyan competencies to overcome crises without the need for external interventions, and added that solutions must stem from the sincere Libyan will.

In a related context, the Commander-in-Chief touched on the development projects led by the armed forces in cooperation with the interim government, noting that the efforts made include developing infrastructure and supporting the agricultural and industrial sectors to achieve stability and development.

Haftar concluded his speech by stressing that the main goal of the Libyan army is to strengthen the rule of law, preserve national dignity, and restore the prestige of the Libyan state.

Sudan’s representative to the United Nations, Al-Harith Idris, accused the Libyan army of interfering in Libya’s internal affairs and supporting the Rapid Support Forces, which caused the Libyan House of Representatives to express its astonishment the day before yesterday, Friday, about the speech of the Sudanese representative, who “threw Libya’s name into the armed conflict.”
