The Commander of the General Command, Khalifa Haftar, discussed with the Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence, Major General Abbas Kamel, the political developments of the Libyan crisis, during their meeting in the Rajma area in the city of Benghazi, according to what was announced by the office of the “General Command”.
Haftar received in his office at the General Command headquarters the Head of the Egyptian Intelligence and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the Security Forces, Major General Khaled Khalifa Haftar, and the Secretary-General of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Khairi Al-Tamimi. Haftar stressed during the meeting the depth of the fraternal relations between Libya and Egypt.
Major General Abbas Kamel conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Field Marshal Haftar and expressed Egypt’s keenness to support the unity and stability of Libya.
The two sides discussed the political developments of the Libyan crisis and stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to support the political process, with the aim of holding presidential and parliamentary elections.
They also expressed their support for the efforts made by the United Nations Mission in Libya to create the appropriate conditions for organizing the electoral process.
