The International Federation of Football History and Statistics has announced the 2023 Awards of the Century, with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland winning the best player award, while fellow Brazilian Ederson won the best goalkeeper award.
Haaland received the award after coming in first place with 209 points, while Frenchman Kylian Mbappe came in second place with 105 points, and Argentine star Lionel Messi was content with third place with 85 points.
Manchester City’s Spaniard Rodri came in fourth place, and England’s Jude Bellingham came in fifth place.
Haaland had an exceptional year with City and contributed to the achievement of 4 titles: the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the European Super Cup, while he missed the Club World Cup crowned by City, due to his exit from the squad due to injury.
This is Haaland’s first FIFA award for football history and statistics.
The 2023 World Goalkeeper of the Year award went to Haaland’s Brazilian team-mate at Manchester City, Ederson.
