The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) issued a statement urging the need to find a comprehensive solution to the Sudanese crisis.

The statement stressed the importance of calm and recourse to dialogue as a means to achieve unity and maintain the stability of national state institutions in Sudan.

This came during the “Enhanced Interactive Dialogue on the High Commissioner’s Report on Sudan”, in which the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Hind Abdul Rahman Al-Muftah, participated.

The Gulf states expressed deep concern over the suffering of the Sudanese people from violence and the collapse of basic human rights, stressing their support for the ongoing talks between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which are being worked on by Saudi Arabia, the United States, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, and the African Union.

At the end of the statement, the GCC countries welcomed the announcement issued on the commitment of the Sudanese parties to facilitate humanitarian access and achieve an agreement that alleviates the suffering of the Sudanese people and contributes to enhancing the country’s security and stability.

The GCC affirmed their commitment to providing humanitarian assistance and support to the Sudanese people and participating in alleviating their suffering.
