Data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) recorded a significant rise in global military spending for the ninth consecutive year, with the United States, China and Russia topping the list.

According to the latest report, total military spending globally reached a new record of $2.44 trillion in 2023, marking a 7 percent increase from the previous year, the largest rate of increase since 2009.

The data indicate that arms sales to the world’s top 100 companies have achieved a value of close to $ 600 billion, while the “Sipri” Institute attributes this unprecedented rise in military spending directly to the deterioration of the global situation in peace and security.

Looking at the numbers, the United States topped the list of countries that spent the most on the military globally with spending of $ 916 billion last year, while China ranked second with an increase of 6%, with military spending of about $ 296 billion.

In third place came Russia with a 24 percent increase in military spending, with its military budget reaching $109 billion last year.
