The French Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that its embassy in Niger is closed until further notice and will continue to operate from the capital, Paris.
The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “the French embassy in Niger is closed until further notice.” It also noted that “the representative office will continue to operate from Paris.”
Earlier, AFP, citing a French diplomatic source, reported that Paris had decided to close its embassy in Niger because of its inability to “operate normally.”
French forces withdrew their last troops from Niger’s capital Niamey in late December, concluding their military presence in the country.
