Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi discussed efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and implement the recent Security Council resolution on increasing humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip.

This came during Safadi’s visit to Cairo to discuss developments in the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry stressed Egypt’s constant keenness to enhance consultation and coordination with Jordan, whether at the summit or ministerial level, to face common challenges and work to find solutions to the political and security crises in the region, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stressed that the meeting dealt with the security of navigation in the Red Sea in light of the importance of its path in connection with the movement of international trade, and thus being an integral part of Egyptian and Jordanian national security.
