Several airlines, including Lufthansa and Euro wings, have announced the suspension of flights to Beirut until August 5 due to the tense security situation in the region.
Lebanon’s national carrier Middle East Airlines said the suspension was due to growing concerns about renewed conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which was exacerbated by a rocket attack in the Golan Heights.
The precautionary move comes after an escalation in violence that killed 12 people, raising fears of a full-scale war, while Hezbollah said it was not behind the attacks, which were its heaviest losses since a Hamas attack last October.
International airlines, including Turkish Airlines and Greece’s Aegean Airlines, have cancelled their scheduled flights to Beirut, and Middle East Airlines is postponing and delaying flights to ensure safety and assess ongoing security risks related to aircraft insurance and air operations.
The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported yesterday, Sunday, that the target that will be bombed in Lebanon has been determined, and the newspaper revealed that the target that the Israeli occupation army intends to bomb is limited but its impact is strong. As for the Israeli radio, it said yesterday, Sunday, that the army has prepared possible scenarios for an attack on Lebanon and presented them to the political leadership and confirmed that Israel is not interested in a comprehensive war with Hezbollah, but rather in directing a painful blow to it only.
