The Senegalese authorities stated that a student was killed in the city of Saint Louis in the northern part of the country during violent protests that erupted against the postponement of presidential elections.
According to press reports, a street vendor was also killed after being shot by a policeman at a train station southwest of the capital Dakar, while Senegalese authorities did not confirm this information.
Dakar and several other cities are in turmoil after the president announced the postponement of the election date from February 25 to December 15 this year.
