Spanish farmers joined the widespread protests sweeping Europe, and tractors lined up on highways in cities.
Spanish farmers, primarily through social media, staged their first major demonstration, echoing the sentiments of their European counterparts.
While the protests have remained peaceful, their impact on traffic has been noticeable in an effort to draw attention to the grievances of the agricultural sector, organizers say.
Agricultural unions issued statements underscoring the need for flexibility in EU agricultural policies and calling for stricter restrictions and controls on products coming from outside the EU.
In addition, farmers called for increased aid to combat drought-related challenges, strengthen control over the food supply chain, and expand insurance rights.
It is noteworthy that the agricultural crisis in Europe began after the European Union imposed sanctions on Russia, as the Union was importing fertilizer from there, whose prices have risen significantly recently, in addition to the rise in energy prices in Europe due to sanctions on the Russian oil and gas fields
