The High National Elections Commission in Libya announced the extension of the voter registration period until July 13, and this is considered the second and final extension.

This extension came in response to the increasing demand for registration by citizens, as the number of registered voters in the municipal council elections reached 157,000.

The Commission explained that the extension would give an additional opportunity to those who faced difficulties in including their names and data in the voter register, stressing the importance of broad participation to ensure the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.

The Commission stressed that effective participation in the elections contributes to choosing who will manage municipal affairs and fulfill citizens’ demands.

The Commission called on all government institutions, civil society organizations, and media channels to support its efforts aimed at enhancing the concept of participation by encouraging citizens to engage in the electoral process, whether as voters, candidates, or observers.

It is noteworthy that the Commission had announced an extension of the registration period two weeks ago for a period of 14 days, with the aim of allowing more time for citizens to register their names.
