The President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, on Monday affirmed his country’s full support for the unity and stability of Sudan.
Al-Menfi’s confirmation came during a joint press conference with the head of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, at the Presidential Council’s office in Tripoli.
Al-Menfi expressed his country’s support for Burhan’s efforts to achieve stability in Sudan, stressing the close relations between the two countries.
For his part, Burhan praised “the strength and depth of the relationship between the two peoples and the two countries,” stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in the economic, political, and military aspects.
In a statement by the Libyan Presidential Council, it was stressed the need to discuss issues of common interest that contribute to achieving peace and stability in the region, and to enhance cooperation between the two countries through the exchange of delegations and the activation of agreements signed between them.
Al-Burhan stressed his appreciation for Libya’s positive stances towards Sudan, its support for the unity and safety of Sudan and its rejection of negative external interventions.
Burhan arrived in Libya on Monday morning on an official visit to meet with the exiled and the head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, after Dabaiba announced an initiative to establish peace and a ceasefire between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
