The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration has evacuated three Tunisian citizens living in the Haitian capital Puerto Prince after the security situation deteriorated.
According to the Tunisian Foreign Ministry, a request was submitted to the crisis cell at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, where the French authorities agreed to evacuate Tunisian citizens, along with their community in Haiti.
The three Tunisian citizens arrived on the island of Martinique on Friday, then left in the evening for the French capital, Paris.
Tunisia’s embassies in Washington, Ottawa, Rome, and Paris confirmed work to secure the evacuation of a fourth Tunisian citizen, where coordination is taking place with the Italian embassy, which has expressed its readiness to cooperate in the evacuation of the Tunisian.
The United Nations has called for an arms embargo on Haiti, where more than 1,500 people have been killed in gang violence this year.
