European Union officials expressed their concern about the rapprochement taking place between Tunisia and Russia, China, and Iran, due to internal and external developments in Tunisia.

Tunisia was not scheduled to be discussed on the agenda of the European meeting, but the need to evaluate relations led to an emergency call for discussion, according to France 24.

During the discussions, concerns were raised about democracy and human rights in Tunisia, and human rights organizations called for a review of the European-Tunisian memorandums of understanding.

It is noteworthy that the volume of Chinese investments in Tunisia amounts to 34 million dollars, while direct Russian investments in Tunisia amounted to about 715 million dollars during the past year.
