Egyptian cinemas witnessed a high turnout with the start of the screening of Eid al-Fitr 2024 films, where four new Egyptian films attracted audiences, generating revenues of 53.8 million Egyptian pounds.
The film “Shako”, featuring a cast of stars including Yusra, Amr Youssef, and Mohamed Mamdouh, topped the box office, grossing 27.7 million pounds ($583.9 thousand). The film revolves around a group of friends involved in criminal activities that lead them to face serious crises.
In second place came the film “Fasel min Al Lahza Al Lazeeza”, starring Hisham Majid and Hana El Zahed, which earned 18.3 million pounds ($385.7 thousand), followed by “Alamashi” in third place with revenues of 6.4 million pounds ($134.9 thousand).
The film “Aswad Melouan”, starring Bayoumi Fouad and Ahmed Fathy, came in fourth place, achieving revenues of 1.4 million pounds ($29.5 thousand).
Mahmoud El-Defrawi, responsible for distribution at the Cinema Industry Chamber, confirmed that the films will remain available in theaters until just before the beginning of the Eid al-Adha season, with new releases planned in the coming weeks.
