Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry announced that Egypt does not accept any form of resettlement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry’s announcement came during a meeting with some US lawmakers, where the minister stressed that Egypt strongly opposes any attempt to settle Palestinians or manipulate the Palestinian cause, noting that this approach does not contribute to achieving stability in the region.

The delegation that visited Egypt as part of its regional tour consisted of eight people, led by Senator Johnny Earnest of Iowa.

The official spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Abu Zeid, said on his official Facebook page that “the minister also stressed the need to stop the aggression against the civilian population in Gaza and the violent actions by Israeli settlers, and to achieve an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities.”

“Events in recent weeks have revealed the danger of implementing a scenario that could lead to an escalation of the conflict, especially in light of the escalating situation in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria. In addition, the safety of navigation in the Red Sea must be ensured to achieve a continuous and safe flow of trade.”

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Foreign Minister announced his country’s position on the issue of resettlement of Palestinians earlier, where he expressed in a meeting on November 27 his regret that countries that oppose the forced displacement of Palestinians have not made sufficient efforts to prevent it.
