Egypt’s Zamalek won the African Football Confederation Cup for the second time in their history, beating Morocco’s Nahda Berkane at the Cairo International Stadium 1-0 in the second leg.
Zamalek star Ahmed Hamdi appeared as the hero of the meeting by scoring the only goal of the match in the 23rd minute, and gave his team the advantage and superiority, as the goal was enough to compensate Zamalek for its loss in the first leg 1-2 at the municipal stadium in Berkane.
Zamalek’s crowning of the title for the second time comes after the first victory in 2019 and strengthened Zamalek’s position as one of the most prominent clubs in the continent.
Nicknamed the “White Castle”, Zamalek proved its superiority once again over Nahdet Berkane, avenging previous losses and depriving the Moroccan team of the opportunity to win a third title after victories in 2020 and 2022.
Zamalek is one of the most successful clubs in the history of African football, having won thirteen African titles, including five times the African Champions League and four times the African Super Cup, and also won the Afro-Asian Cup twice.
