The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) announced a statement on the activity of the southern region’s ports during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023-2024, which witnessed a remarkable development and growth rate at all levels compared to the same period last fiscal year.

The statement pointed out that the port of Sokhna witnessed a total of 138 ships, and the total tonnage traded in the port during the mentioned period reached approximately 5 million tons, so that the port of Sokhna achieved with these indicators growth rates in receiving ships of 27.78% and a growth rate of goods reached 18.23%, and in the port of Adabiya, it received a total tonnage of 1.4 million tons during the period from July 1 to September 30, 2023, with a total number of 106 ships and a growth rate of 2.91% compared to the same period of Last year, 50 general cargo vessels, 13 dry bulk vessels, 29 liquid bulk vessels, 12 container ships and 2 live animal ships.

The statement stated that “permanent coordination is taking place between the concerned authorities in the affiliated ports to facilitate procedures for the entry and exit of ships to and from the ports and to take all necessary preventive measures.

It is worth mentioning that the Suez Canal Economic Zone has achieved a qualitative leap in its various ports through development works that have contributed significantly to encouraging major companies in the field of maritime transport to cooperate with their ports.
