Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development Affairs and Minister of Transport and Industry, said that the price of the dollar is expected to fall to 25 pounds and the price of a loaf of bread to decrease from 120 piasters to 60 piasters.
The minister confirmed during the “Talks in Politics” program broadcast on the “Extra News” channel, on Tuesday evening, that if the industry is developed in Egypt, hard currency will be pumped in, which will reduce the demand for the dollar and raise the value of the Egyptian pound against hard currency, indicating that it is expected The price of the dollar will then fall to 25 pounds if the industrial sector is developed.
The minister explained that he has a plan to rationalize imports by increasing local manufacturing and working on manufacturing with high quality capable of competing at home and abroad.
He pointed out that there is a comprehensive plan that will be implemented to advance the Egyptian industry during the coming period, based on five axes, including the axis of solving the problems of troubled factories, as he stressed the necessity of seeking to solve these problems, whether administrative or financial, as he will seek in every way to coordinate with the banks. The major corporation, the central bank, and the government will help these troubled factories to begin offering their industries, each according to their specialization. He added, “The problems of all troubled factories that have obtained a license will be solved as long as the decision to solve is in the hands of the ministry.”
The Minister noted that there are 152 investment opportunities in the industrial sector that the government seeks to work on immediately, praising the distinguished industries in Egypt, such as ceramics, reinforcement iron, and textiles, which enjoy competitive ability abroad.
The Minister stated that developing the industry would benefit the daily lives of citizens by providing high-quality products. He also stressed providing technical support to factories to improve the quality of products and reach international standards.
The Minister reviewed the achievements of the Ministry of Transport, noting the improvement in Egypt’s ranking in road quality from 128th to 18th place globally, and the decrease in the accident rate.
He also pointed out that the development of mass transportation contributed to reducing fuel consumption, explaining that the World Bank praised that these developments saved Egypt $8 billion annually.
The Minister pointed out the role of infrastructure and road projects in achieving sustainable development in the fields of industry, agriculture and tourism.
He pointed to the requests of German and Russian tourists to implement the high-speed train between Hurghada and Luxor, which reflects the importance of developing infrastructure to enhance tourism.
The minister concluded by stressing the importance of developing infrastructure to connect Egypt strongly, which enhances the country’s attractiveness for tourism and investment, and reflects the current government’s priorities in supporting sustainable development.
