Egyptian cinema returns to the international scene after a 12-year absence, with the participation of the film “Searching for an Exit for Mr. Rambo” at the Venice International Film Festival.

The film will be screened in the Orizzonti Extra section, which is dedicated to reviewing the latest trends in international cinema, highlighting promising young talents in the cinematic arena.

The film is directed by Khaled Mansour, in his first experience with feature films, and produced by Rasha Hosny, who is also undergoing her first experience in this field.

The film tells the story of “Hassan”, a young man in his thirties who finds himself forced to confront his past and fears while trying to save his dog and friend “Rambo”, in a plot that combines drama and suspense.

While talking about the experience of producing the film, Rasha Hosny indicated that the project was not easy, and that the team faced major challenges over the course of seven years of preparation and filming in 35 different locations.

Despite these challenges, the film succeeded in obtaining several production grants from various entities, including the Red Sea Film Fund and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture.

For his part, director Khaled Mansour expressed his happiness to participate in the Venice Festival, describing the film’s selection as a very important step in his artistic career, adding that he aspired to present a work that expresses him and his surroundings, away from the prevailing commercial standards.

The film includes a group of young faces, including Essam Omar in his first cinematic experience, Rakeen Saad, Sama Ibrahim, and Ahmed Bahaa, founder of the “Charmoofers” band, who is also undergoing his first experience in the world of acting.

For his part, producer Mohamed Hefzy expressed his pride in the film’s participation in the Venice Festival, noting that this success brings Egyptian cinema back to the global spotlight, adding that he expected since reading the script that the film would have a place in major festivals, which is what actually happened.

The film received several awards and development and production grants, and participated in film development labs at several festivals, reflecting the great effort made by the work team in presenting this project.

The film is expected to attract attention during its world premiere at the festival and constitutes an important step towards enhancing the presence of Egyptian cinema on the international scene.
