Egypt’s Tourism and Antiquities Police and Public Security thwarted the smuggling of 437 artifacts, including a mummy and coffins, and arrested 3 people engaged in illegal excavation and excavation of antiquities.

Egyptian media sources said that the smugglers were targeted and seized with 437 artifacts, including 3 wooden coffins with one mummy, 400 stone statues, 29 amulets, two wooden masks for seized coffins, a wooden statue, and two pottery bottles.

The sources confirmed that when interrogating the detainees, they admitted that the seizures are the result of illegal excavation and excavation, and after presenting the seizures to the competent authorities, they reported their antiquities, so that appropriate legal measures are taken.
