Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed the current situation in Gaza in a phone call on Sunday.
During the call, Abbas gave an overview of the new situation in Palestine and the ongoing attacks on Palestinians, especially in Gaza, stressing the need to stop the war as soon as possible.
The Palestinian President stressed the urgent need to provide and increase humanitarian and medical assistance to Gaza, to help shelters and hospitals meet the needs of citizens and alleviate their suffering.
Abbas reiterated Palestine’s position rejecting the deportation of any of its citizens, whether in Gaza or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, noting that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian territories, rejecting attempts to separate it from the Palestinian territories or seize any part of it or reoccupy it.
For his part, Sisi expressed Egypt’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their cause and pledged to work to stop attacks on Gaza and support Palestinian rights to an independent state.
