Egypt is witnessing a major development in the Dabaa nuclear power plant project, as photos have recently spread on social media sites highlighting the extent of the achievement made in this strategic project.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with Egypt and Russia within the framework of strengthening relations between the two countries in the field of energy.
Earlier this year, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin participated in the concrete pouring event for the fourth reactor at the Dabaa nuclear power plant, which highlights the great importance of this project within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
The beginning of this cooperation dates back to the signing of an agreement between Egypt and Russia on November 19, 2015, to establish the Dabaa nuclear power plant, with investment financing of up to $25 billion provided by Russia in the form of a soft government loan to Egypt.
The station will include four third-generation “+”3 nuclear reactors, with a total production capacity of 4,800 megawatts, or 1,200 megawatts for each reactor.
The first reactor is scheduled to be operational in 2028, representing an important step towards achieving energy sustainability in Egypt.
This project reflects not only Egypt’s move towards clean energy, but also the strengthening of economic and technical cooperation between Egypt and Russia, in a move aimed at supporting the country’s energy infrastructure and achieving self-sufficiency.
