The Egyptian government said on Tuesday it had begun paying arrears owed to foreign companies working on petroleum projects in the country.
The Egyptian Cabinet said in a statement that the government has begun “paying the dues of foreign partners working in oil projects in Egypt, with a total of about 20% of the arrears, through a scheduled plan to pay all arrears successively during the coming period.”
For his part, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly stressed the government’s keenness to take intensive steps in the file of the dues of foreign oil companies in Egypt, by starting the implementation of a tight mechanism prepared to pay the dues of foreign partners, which contributes to spreading more confidence and reassurance in the energy sector in Egypt and works to attract many foreign investments to this vital sector.
