The Egyptian government has appealed to foreigners living in the country to quickly apply to the General Directorate of Passports, Immigration and Nationality to renew their residency and legalize their status, Egyptian media reported.
The government called on all foreigners, especially those exempted from paying residence fees, to go to the General Directorate of Passports, Immigration and Nationality to register their data and obtain a smart residence card to ensure that they continue to benefit from the services provided to them in all government sectors during the period granted by the Prime Minister until no later than 30/6/2024.
Last March, the Egyptian government decided to extend the period for regularizing the status and legalization of the residence of foreigners residing in the country illegally for an additional six months.
It is noteworthy that Mostafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister, had issued a decision at the end of last August, obliging foreigners residing in the country illegally to regularize their status and legalize their residence, provided that there is an Egyptian host, within 3 months from the date of entry into force of this decision, in exchange for paying administrative expenses equivalent to one thousand US dollars.
