Egypt expects tourists to increase this year by up to 20%, according to the head of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, Amr El Kady.
Al-Qadi stressed that these expectations may be affected by the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, where the growth rate could drop to about 15%.
“Egypt witnessed a 27% growth in the number of tourists last year, and current expectations indicate a growth of 20% this year. Despite the challenges, ElKady affirmed Egypt’s commitment to its efforts to attract tourists.
In a related context, Egyptian Airlines is expected to receive 25 new aircraft starting from the middle of this year, which will enhance its ability to receive more visitors.
El-Kady pointed to Egypt’s efforts in negotiating with Russian, Turkish, and other airlines to solve the problem of increasing tourist traffic.
As for tourism security, ElKady pointed out that the Sinai Peninsula and the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh are safe for tourists, and that the Grand Egyptian Museum of Giza may open its doors to visitors in 2024, and expressed his hope that this opening will be a major event that attracts many visitors and international heads of state.
