The head of the Egyptian State Information Service, Diaa Rashwan, denied the validity of what was promoted by some media outlets and social media pages, about collecting additional fees from travelers through the Rafah port.

Media outlets and social media pages have recently circulated allegations related to the fees collected from travelers through the Rafah crossing from the Gaza Strip to Egyptian territory, relying on anonymous and individual sources without any documentation for them.

Rashwan categorically denied allegations of official collection of any additional fees for those coming from Gaza, as well as allegations that any unofficial party charges any material compensation for crossing into Egyptian territory.

He explained that what is collected from the official authorities is only the fees prescribed in accordance with the Egyptian laws regulating the work of the crossing by the Land Ports Authority, which are fixed and have never increased.

Rashwan added that since the start of the entry of relief and humanitarian aid and fuel to the Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, Egypt’s contribution to it is not less than 70%, and it currently reaches more than 150 trucks daily, including 6 fuel trucks.
