Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Thursday to check the number of refugees in Egypt and determine the costs of hosting them.
According to some international estimates, the number of refugees and foreign residents has exceeded nine million, representing more than 133 countries, with 50.4% of males and 49.6% of females, with an average age of 35 years, representing 8.7% of Egypt’s population.
Madbouly directed to scrutinize these numbers, while at the same time counting and collecting what the state bears in return for the services provided.
Prime Ministry Spokesman Mohammed Al-Homsani stated that the meeting included a review of estimates of the total cost borne by the state and a review of the services provided to them in the health care sector, as well as the cost of supporting the health infrastructure necessary to provide medical services.
It is noteworthy that a few days ago, the government launched the campaign “Hurry up to correct your situation in Egypt” to encourage foreigners residing in the country, especially those exempted from paying residence fees, to go to the General Directorate of Passports, Immigration and Nationality to register their data and obtain a smart residence card to ensure that they continue to benefit from the services provided to them in all government sectors.
