As Egyptians await the announcement of the new cabinet formation, an Egyptian government source denied on Thursday the validity of the news circulating about the announcement of the new government within hours.
The source confirmed to the “Extra News” satellite channel that the consultations are still continuing.
The delay in announcing the ministerial formation is due to “challenges and difficulties related to the apology of some of the nominated names and the comparison between a number of candidates,” according to some parliamentarians and politicians, while others believe that the reason is “the desire to make a rational choice of the names of the new ministers.”
In early June, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi assigned the current Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, to form a new government of “those with distinguished competencies, experiences, and capabilities.”
A government source indicated earlier that the swearing-in of the new government is scheduled after the return from Eid al-Adha vacation.
While newspapers, local websites, and social media platforms circulate expectations and speculations about the ministerial formation, Madbouly’s deliberations with the nominated names in the new government formation are surrounded by “complete secrecy.”
Representative Mustafa Bakri considered that there are challenges ahead of the consultations on the new ministerial formation, as some of the nominated figures apologize for assuming ministerial positions, and the names are being reviewed to choose the best.
Bakri explained that there are a number of ministries that have not yet been decided, noting that the door is still open for the Prime Minister to choose the most appropriate one before presenting it to President Sisi and taking the constitutional oath.
Khaled Fouad, head of the “People’s Democratic” Party, indicated that some candidates are delaying accepting the mission due to devoting themselves to government work, and the continuation of consultations reflects that the new government formation keeps pace with economic and regional challenges.
As for MP Ayman Mohseb, a leader in the “Wafd” Party, he confirmed that the continuation of deliberations to choose the new ministers indicates the desire to make a rational choice and choose the names carefully, given the new economic start and the clear goals set by President Sisi for the new government.
During President Sisi’s appointment of the Prime Minister, emphasis was placed on choosing the names of the new government with distinguished competencies, experiences, and capabilities, with a focus on key goals such as preserving the determinants of Egyptian national security, building the Egyptian human being in the fields of health and education, and continuing the path of economic reform.
Government formation consultations continue, amid a state of anticipation and speculation in the Egyptian street, awaiting the official announcement of the chosen names and new tasks of the prospective government.
