Egypt has completed the implementation of the Saka Road and Bridge project in Uganda, which crosses a swampy area crossed by the Belgumba River.
Residents of those areas suffer from frequent flooding that cuts off roads between important cities in eastern Uganda, and last year caused at least 28 deaths.
The Egyptian Arab Contractors Company implemented this project quickly and with high quality, as the timetable for the completion of the project was compressed about 11 months ahead of schedule.
Local officials, the Uganda Roads Authority and residents of the area praised the speed of response and the quality of the work.
The project includes the construction of a 4.5-kilometre road within the swamps, a bridge over the Belgumba River, and 10 other industrial works.
The project is part of the Arab Contractors Company’s work in Uganda and comes as part of efforts to improve the country’s road infrastructure.
