The Egyptian Badminton Federation signed a cooperation protocol agreement with the International Badminton Federation (International Grant), which aims to develop the game, to be the first country in the world to receive this grant.
The signing ceremony of the “International Grant” and the launch of the Egyptian Federation for its new logo and identity was held in Egypt on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed his happiness with the great development that the game has gone through during the last period, which led to the confidence of the International Federation of the game and gave it the honor of being the first country in the world to receive a development grant.
Dr. Sawsan Haji Taqwa, a member of the Board of Directors of the International Badminton Federation, said: “The Arab Republic of Egypt was chosen as the first country in the world to receive the International Badminton Scholarship due to its distinguished infrastructure, human cadres and fertile ground for the advancement of badminton, in addition to the great achievements made by Egypt’s heroes and heroines at the continental and international levels.”
Egypt was chosen among 150 countries to compete for this scholarship, then the number of candidates for it was reduced to 15 countries, before Egypt was selected to implement the scholarship program, so that Egypt is the leading player in Africa and the Middle East, based on the evaluation of the International Badminton Federation of its members through a questionnaire that was carried out by the development officials of the International Federation based on what has been achieved by the Egyptian Federation and the huge jump in the level and results of badminton during the last period.
