Head of the Exporters and Foreign Trade Department at Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Behairy Ahmed Behairy, announced that the volume of trade exchange between Russia and Egypt will increase significantly, if the official currency in both the countries is adopted as the basis for trade relations.
Behairy’s announcement came during a meeting with representatives of a number of Russian companies operating in various sectors, as Egypt is about to officially join the BRICS group next year, which may contribute to increasing the intra-trade movement.
Behairy added, “The Russian market is one of the most important export markets to which Egyptian exports are directed,” pointing out that it accounts for about 60% of the export volume of a number of goods and products, especially agricultural ones.
A few days ago, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce received a Russian trade delegation, in cooperation with the Russian Export Center and a group of Russian companies. The delegation included 20 Russian companies.
This came in the presence of a number of representatives of Russian companies, members of the Board of Directors, Ashraf Abu Ismail, Mahmoud Marei, Eng. El-Sayyid el-Badawi, Ahmed Al-Kateb, Basant Qasim, Chamber’s Advisor for Foreign Relations, and a number of representatives of Egyptian companies.
