The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced a major project to drill 586 exploratory wells with investments amounting to $7.2 billion.

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, pointed out the importance of cooperation with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to ensure the provision of fuel necessary to operate power plants.

He also stressed the importance of coordinating with foreign partners to pay late dues to encourage them to pump more investments with the aim of increasing the production of crude oil and gas.

During the presentation of the ministry’s statement before the relevant parliamentary committee, Badawi stressed the necessity of attracting foreign investments by adopting new investment ideas, exploiting the capabilities available in refining, petrochemical and mineral resources factories, as well as using digital transformation and artificial intelligence techniques in various sector activities.

The Minister also pledged to commit to full transparency and frankness when presenting various topics, integration and teamwork with various ministries and agencies, and continuous cooperation with the House of Representatives and the Energy Committee to achieve common goals.

He emphasized encouraging innovation, creativity, presenting new ideas, and regular communication with the press and media to provide updates on activities and projects.

Badawi also stressed the importance of occupational safety and health standards, working on environmental sanitation, and enhancing efforts to decarbonize and reduce emissions in the sector’s activities, in line with Egypt’s strategy for sustainable development, which places the issue of climate change and energy transformation among its priorities.

Regarding the development of human resources, Badawi pointed out the necessity of empowering women and promoting equal opportunities in all fields, stressing the importance of women’s role as a key partner in success and community building.
