37 people were exposed to poisoning after eating spoiled food in the Libyan city of Tobruk, where the Tobruk Medical Center received the cases yesterday, Friday.
The medical center confirmed that all the injured were examined and most of them left the hospital in good health after receiving the necessary treatment.
A case of poisoning was detected after eating food in a local restaurant, and local reports indicated that the Municipal Guard in Tobruk and the Health Inspection Service supervised the inspection and investigation into the incident.
In a related context, the Tobruk Security Directorate announced the seizure of a truck carrying 2,000 boxes of “potato chips” unfit for human consumption.
The truck driver admitted that he was distributing similar loads from a warehouse in the city of Musaed to various shops in the city of Benghazi, which increases the complexity of the case and indicates the presence of potential health risks that could affect broader areas.
It should be noted that the authorities in the health sector in Libya have tightened their procedures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents and ensure food safety for citizens.
