Doubts hover over the cause of a massive fire in the warehouses of the General Electricity Company, in the Kuraimiya area, south of the Libyan capital Tripoli, after documents showed the start of inventory operations for the company’s assets.

Media sources reviewed the preliminary report submitted by the head of the inventory committee of the Libyan Electricity Holding Company, Abu Ajila Ali Al-Dokali, to the company’s president, regarding the fire.

Dukali said that the committee began its work in the inventory of the company’s assets on March 6, after the issuance of the decision to assign it by the company on February 28, pointing out that it was in the process of completing the inventory work, “but it was surprised by the outbreak of fire in the stores.”

He explained that the committee completed its work in the factory of concrete columns Balkuraimia, and then proceeded to inventory factory electrical artifacts, before receiving a call at nine o’clock on Sunday evening regarding the outbreak of fire, to go members of the Committee to the place to prepare a report on the incident.

The head of the Libyan government assigned by the House of Representatives, Osama Hammad, has called on the Attorney General, Counselor Siddiq Al-Sur, to open an extensive investigation to find out the causes of the fire and “to ascertain whether it was the work of an actor or for other reasons, and the use of accredited judicial experts to find out the truth, to prove the rights of citizens.”
