A recent report published by the global statistics website “Data Pandas” revealed that divorce rates in Arab countries for the year 2024 witnessed a significant disparity between countries.
Libya topped the list with a rate of 2.5 divorces per thousand people, making it the highest among Arab countries in terms of divorce rates.
Egypt came in second place with a rate of 2.3 divorces, followed by Saudi Arabia with a rate of 2.1, reflecting the increasing economic and social pressures on families in these countries.
In contrast, Algeria, Jordan, and Lebanon recorded a rate of 1.6 divorces per thousand people, ranking fourth, respectively.
As for Syria and Kuwait, the divorce rate reached 1.3, while the United Arab Emirates and Qatar were the lowest with a rate of 0.7 divorces per thousand people, indicating relative stability in these countries.
Sociologists attribute this phenomenon to several factors, including increasing economic challenges, early marriage, as well as the impact of social and cultural changes.
These experts stress the importance of taking preventive measures to maintain the stability of the Arab family, as it is the foundation on which society is built.
