Algerian Olympic champion Mustafa Moussa passed away yesterday, Saturday, at the age of 62, after suffering from complications resulting from a painful traffic accident.
A statement issued by the Algerian Olympic Committee conveyed the news of his death, expressing sadness for his loss. The Olympic Committee also conveyed its deepest condolences to Moussa’s family, relatives, and all members of the sports family.
Moussa was famous for winning the bronze medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, which was a historic moment as he was the first Algerian to achieve this feat.
His brilliance was not limited to the Olympics only, as he also won gold at the 1985 Arab Games and the 1987 African Games, in addition to the 1982 World Military Championship and the 1983 Mediterranean Games.
Moussa was involved in a serious traffic accident several months ago, after which he was admitted to intensive care due to severe head injuries. After passing the critical stage, he was transferred to a rehabilitation center in Oran, where he continued his treatment until his death.
It is noteworthy that Mustafa Moussa was appointed Director of Organization in Boxing during the Mediterranean Games in the summer of 2022 in Oran.
