Deadly clashes erupted in southern Chad between Arab livestock farmers and local farmers, killing at least 23 people during seven days of ongoing violence.
The information minister confirmed to AFP that the new clashes erupted following the assassination of a man from an Arab group in an ambush between March 21st and 27th in three villages in the central Chari region of southern Chad.
These areas are witnessing increasing tension between the two parties, with disputes over land ownership and herd grazing in the fields exacerbated.
The clashes are the latest continuation of a series of deadly violence plaguing the region.
For its part, the Chadian authorities condemned these violent acts and stressed the need for calm and the search for peaceful solutions to avoid worsening the security situation in the region.
