Prime Minister of the Unity Government Abdul Hamid Dabaiba said that the large attendance witnessed by the Libya Energy and Economy Summit is supportive of achieving stability and improving the investment environment in the country.

Dabaiba added at the opening of the summit that the government has developed plans to double oil and gas production, develop the infrastructure of oil fields and expand exploration in a way that contributes to stability and solving all problems facing the energy sector.

Dabaiba pointed out that the government launched the national strategy for renewable energies, stressing that Libya is qualified to be the largest solar energy field in the region and exports them to African and Mediterranean countries.

For his part, NOC Chairman Farhat bin Qadara said that the NOC has maintained strategic relations with international partners and today contributes to global energy security.

Bin Qadara added at the Libya Energy and Economy Summit that the corporation aims to return Libya to the ranks of energy-producing countries by raising production to 2 million barrels per day and doubling gas production within 3 years, according to him.

Bin Qadara pointed out that this summit represents an opportunity for cooperation and strengthening international relations and that they are excited to start an open dialogue that supports the Foundation’s vision for the energy sector, according to him.

For his part, Oil Minister Mohamed Aoun confirmed that the Libyan state has large quantities of gas and oil that have not yet been explored, pointing out that about 30% of the Libyan territory has not been conducted exploration operations, according to him.

Aoun pointed out that Libya discovered gas in the eastern and western Mediterranean and helped a US company to discover “Mermaid” gas in the central Mediterranean, according to him.
