Relations between France and Morocco have witnessed a wave of tangible diplomatic activity, with French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin on a two-day official visit to Rabat.

The visit follows visits by French Foreign Trade Minister Franck Riester and Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Sigourny over the past few months.

During his meeting with Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, Darmanan thanked Morocco for the great support provided by Morocco to France in organizing major sporting events, including the Olympic Games in Paris, which will bring together hundreds of thousands of people.

Darmanan described the “excellent” cooperation between the French Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco in the field of security in light of common challenges, such as the fight against drugs, terrorist networks and crime.

In a related context, the French Minister of Agriculture, Marc Visnot is currently visiting the Kingdom of Morocco, and his colleague in the economy, Bruno Le Maire, and the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, are expected to make similar visits in the coming days.
